Mikel Aydin

Mikel Aydin serves as the principal of Aydin Consulting, a firm he established in 2004 to deliver clear, simple, and cost-effective legal and property guidance. Mikel holds a combined Arts/Law degree from the University of Sydney, awarded in 1999. His initial legal journey commenced at the Crown Solicitor's Office and Michell Sillar, before joining Minter Ellison's Property Team in 2000. At Minter Ellison, one of the largest international law firms, Mikel represented prestigious companies such as Deutsche Bank, AMP, and Colonial First State, specialising in property legal advice. In 2004, Mikel transitioned to the Sassin Group, an innovative property development company in Sydney, where he became both a shareholder and Legal Counsel. His role at Sassin Group involved comprehensive engagement in rural and residential land subdivisions and investments, providing him with invaluable practical experience in property development from inception to completion. His projects spanned across South East Queensland, the NSW Mid North Coast, Port Stephens, and Tasmania, where he maintains interests, including an involvement in an artisan dairy. Mikel’s professional ethos is centred on the seamless realisation of ideas into outcomes while managing risks effectively. His ability to balance reward and risk is notable. After enriching his corporate career, Mikel redirected his focus in 2009 to the not-for-profit sector, dedicating nearly four years to Parramatta Mission, an initiative of the Uniting Church. Here, he undertook roles as CEO Housing, Director of Property, and Legal Counsel. This tenure enriched his experience in financial modelling, risk management, strategic development, policy formulation, business planning, and leadership. Mikel was responsible for overseeing a substantial property portfolio, exceeding $250 million, utilised to support accommodation for the disadvantaged. His diverse experience equips him with a holistic understanding of both business and human elements in legal and property matters.
