Alex Moriarty is the Principal and Founder of AXM Law, bringing over twenty years of experience providing strategic legal advice to a diverse range of clients. His practice spans listed and unlisted companies, government departments at both State and Federal levels, as well as small businesses, start-ups and individuals, addressing the full spectrum of their commercial and professional needs. Known as a trusted legal adviser for high net worth individuals, businesses and professionals within Australia and internationally, Alex offers comprehensive guidance on matters pertaining to business operations, finance and taxation. Throughout his career, Alex has acted as a commercial litigator and insolvency lawyer, managing numerous significant and complex disputes and trials across all Australian jurisdictions. His extensive litigation experience includes commercial and contract disputes, trade practices, tax, administrative law, intellectual property, insurance, medical practice, lending, property and insolvency matters. He is recognised for both his success in high-profile cases and his prudent, discreet approach, consistently securing favourable outcomes while maintaining client confidentiality. Alex commenced his career with a leading Sydney law firm before becoming a partner in both national and boutique firms in Brisbane, where he practised for eighteen years. In 2018, he established AXM Law as a full service practice committed to delivering exceptional client service within a progressive and collaborative workplace environment. He holds admission to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales since 2001, the High Court of Australia since 2002, and the Supreme Court of Queensland since 2005. Alex’s areas of expertise include corporate law and governance for company boards, commercial litigation and defamation law, insolvency and tax law, administrative law, trusts law, intellectual property and digital law, as well as all aspects of commercial and finance transactions. His academic credentials are exemplary, with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from Adelaide University, where he completed a dissertation in information privacy law and achieved first place in Corporations Law and Succession Law. He also attained a Bachelor of Commerce with High Distinction from the same university, earning awards such as Professor Tew’s Prize for Economics and the Economics Society Prize. Further advancing his knowledge, Alex completed a Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance with High Distinction at Bond University, finishing as the top student in numerous subjects including Enterprise Strategy and Risk Management, Tax and Finance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Ethics and Corporate Governance. He also undertook the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme at the Said Business School, University of Oxford, graduating with High Distinction, and holds a Graduate Diploma in Japanese Studies with High Distinction from Adelaide University.
