Jeff Garrett

Jeff Garrett commenced his legal career with Attwood Marshall as an Articled Law Clerk in February 1981, under the mentorship of founding partner Bob Marshall. Initially gaining experience in commercial law, Jeff’s aptitude for litigation quickly became evident, shaping his career focus in this area. In 1991, Jeff was appointed partner and subsequently took charge of the firm’s personal injuries department, overseeing a team of 16 lawyers. He was among the first lawyers to obtain dual accreditation in personal injury law from the Law Society in both New South Wales and Queensland, reflecting his extensive expertise in this field. Jeff’s litigation experience spans a broad spectrum of commercial disputes, which has naturally extended to his significant involvement in Estate Litigation. He now leads the firm’s Wills & Estates department, recognised as one of the largest dedicated teams in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, handling complex matters with considerable skill and knowledge. Beyond his legal practice, Jeff is the driving force behind the firm’s adoption of electronic systems and its progression towards a paperless office environment. Since becoming managing partner in 1998, he has utilised his extensive business acumen to support and advise the firm’s diverse business and corporate clients effectively. An enthusiastic thoroughbred racehorse breeder, Jeff operates a boutique stud in the Gold Coast Hinterland. His personal interest in the thoroughbred industry has been instrumental in developing the firm’s dedicated practice area focused on thoroughbred breeding and racing. While Jeff continues to manage an active litigation caseload, his current priorities centre on leading the firm’s operations and enhancing staff training and systems. He remains committed to fostering innovation, consistently seeking to position Attwood Marshall Lawyers at the leading edge of legal technology and service delivery.
