About Andrew
Andrew Gill is the Managing Principal and Director of ASG Lawyers, where he leads a dedicated team specialising in Wills and estates. He holds accreditation from the Law Society of NSW as a specialist in this area and is a fully registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Andrew's academic background is distinguished by First-Class Honours degrees in both Law from Macquarie University and Economics from Murdoch University. He also earned a Master of Laws with a focus on Wills and Estates. Throughout his studies, Andrew received multiple academic prizes across diverse legal fields including taxation law, competition and consumer law, commercial law, media law, and law and religion. His commitment to leadership development includes advanced training at Harvard University. Beyond practice, he contributes to the legal community as a director and volunteer at the Northern Beaches Community Legal Centre and shares his expertise as a sessional academic at Macquarie University, teaching succession law and equity and trusts. Before embarking on his legal career, Andrew gained extensive experience in the financial sector. He worked as a proprietary trader at a global macro hedge fund and at Goldman Sachs, a prominent US investment bank. Additionally, he served as an economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, advising the Governor and Board on interest rate policy. This unique financial expertise enriches his legal practice, particularly when advising clients on complex estate and succession planning matters involving sophisticated financial arrangements. Andrew’s decision to transition from finance to law was deeply personal, motivated by his own experience managing the challenges faced by his mother as she suffered cognitive decline due to dementia. He understands firsthand the difficulties of navigating aged care, the Public Trustee system, and the complexities of succession law. A committed advocate for the rights of vulnerable individuals, Andrew’s personal experience with grief following the loss of his 14-year-old son, Josh, during the COVID lockdowns in 2021, further shapes his empathetic approach to client care. He lives in North Curl Curl with his wife Di, their daughter Zoe, and their two dogs, Joy and Millie.
