About Mark
Mark was admitted to practice law in 1996 after earning Bachelor degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Adelaide. His career commenced with positions at two of Adelaide’s leading law firms before he established his own practice, Jappe & Associates, which focused exclusively on wills and estates. In 2013, Jappe & Associates merged with Adelta Legal, where Mark continues to deliver expert guidance in all aspects of wills and estates, with a particular focus on estate litigation. Renowned for his skill as a litigator, Mark primarily handles contested estate matters in the Supreme Court. His reputation for excellence is evidenced by his frequent appointment by the Court to serve as a litigation guardian for those unable to advocate for themselves, such as minors or individuals with disabilities. Additionally, he has been entrusted by the Court with the administration of deceased estates amid litigation by potential beneficiaries. Known for his tenacity in litigation and a practical, creative approach to resolving disputes, Mark is committed to assisting clients with their estate planning needs. He is adept at securing grants of letters of administration and probate, and guiding clients through the process of settling the estates of their loved ones. Mark is qualified to assist with a comprehensive range of wills and estate services including estate litigation, wills and estate planning, probate and estate administration, and drafting powers of attorney and advance care directives. His dedication to his field is further demonstrated by his longstanding membership in the Law Society of South Australia and his involvement with its Succession Law Committee since 2007. Recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a preeminent estate litigation lawyer and a leading estate planning lawyer, Mark is also a nationally accredited mediator. He primarily mediates estate or trust disputes, but his expertise extends to a broad range of other conflicts as well. Beyond his professional obligations, Mark contributes to the community by serving on the Board of the Mendelson Foundation, a charitable trust providing scholarships to students from the West Torrens Council area. Despite his busy schedule, Mark finds time for his passion for bridge, having represented both South Australia and Australia in the game.
