Julian Wyatt

Dr Julian Wyatt is a highly experienced disputes lawyer with a 20-year career focused on commercial disputes, both domestically and internationally. Beginning his legal journey at Minter Ellison in Melbourne, Julian expanded his expertise in Switzerland, specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the University of Melbourne, a Postgraduate Certificate from Monash University, a Master in International Studies from the Graduate Institute in Geneva, and a PhD in international law from the University of Geneva. Julian's academic contributions to international law are well-recognised, with numerous publications and a book on treaty interpretation. Julian's legal practice extends across various jurisdictions, with expertise in contract law under Australian, English, and US law, as well as significant experience in civil law systems. He has adeptly handled mediations and litigations in areas such as construction, real estate, and intellectual property, and has acted as counsel in significant international cases like Whaling in the Antarctic before the ICJ. Julian's arbitration work is extensive, often collaborating as co-counsel in international proceedings and serving as an assistant to arbitral tribunals. Acknowledged by Who’s Who Legal as a leader in Arbitration, Julian is a fully qualified mediator and a linguistic asset, fluent in English and French, with advanced German skills.
